Now, depending on the bearing assemblies that you chose for the glider rocker (that should include eight bearings, the bolts, washers and nuts, plus some 1/2" pan head screws to hold the bearings in place), drill the appropriate diameter holes for the bearings at the marked locations. The holes in the chair and the base should also have a countersink to accommodate the bolt head, whereas the rocker arms should have through holes, with countersinks the width of the washers on the opposite sides of the board deep enough to accommodate the nuts. Sand the rocker arms and assemble the base, rocker arms and chair using a socket set to tighten the nuts as shown in the image above.

Thrust bearing varieties enable rotation, support and drag and are vital for automotive, marine, and aerospace applications. Ball screw bearings promote precision in machining, aircraft, robot, and semiconductor production. Needle bearing models employ small rollers to reduce friction of rotating surfaces. Grainger has the right kind of bearing for any job.

About the bearings: These bearings are made by the same American manufacturer that has been making koyo bearings for glider rockers since the rockers were invented. They are a low speed bearing made of steel construction throughout. They have a light zinc finish and are lightly greased internally when assembled. The metal shield prevents dusts and contaminants from easily entering the bearing. The bore is smooth and fits a standard 3/8" bolt perfectly. This allows you to use any length bolt you need to build or repair your rocker. We have personally repaired several rockers with this bearing with great success and happy customers.

Glider rockers are popular porch furniture that can be used inside the home as well. Repairing the bearing on a glider rocker, in most cases, is as simple as taking out the broken bearing and replacing it. Most bearing problems will not require any more than the most basic of DIY work. For replacements, a standard 3/8-inch bolt fits the majority of common rocker gliders.
